Biography



Our Chief Administrative Officer, Ferne Hebig was born and raised in Meadow Lake, SK and now lives in Watson, SK. 

Certifications
Ferne has both her basic and Advanced Certificate on Local Government Authority (LGA and ALGA), and a Certified in Public Relations all from the University of Regina. She also has her Standard administrator's Certificate of Qualification in Local Government Authority. Ferne will be eligible to obtain her Level I Advanced administrator's Certificate of Qualification in Local Government Authority from UMAAS (Urban Administrator's Association of Saskatchewan) in 2019.

Experience
Ferne came to Wadena from the joint office of the RM of Pleasantdale and Town of Naicam where she spent approximately a year and a half as the Assistant Administrator. Over the last ten years, Ferne's experience includes working as the General Manager for the Model-T Inn & Restaurant, the President and joint founder of the Riverbend District Chamber of Commerce, the Secretary/Treasurer for the Borden Parks & Recreation Board, and a Program Assistant and later a contracted graphic designer for the Public Legal Education Association of Saskatchewan (PLEA). Ferne also spent a number of years contracting out work as a graphic designer, is the CFO for dBDirect Distribution Inc. (dbdirect.ca) and is partners with her mother in Miss Hélène's Gourmet Foods Ltd. (misshelenes.ca). Ferne has been involved in applying for and successfully obtaining over $250,000 in grant funding prior to coming to Wadena.

Family
Ferne's husband Donald is a Level II Certified Water Treatment Plant Operator and Water/Sewer Supervisor of the Town of Watson. He also has over 20 years of experience in the commercial/home/auto audio/video industry. They have three children: Deidre, who is an animator for DHX in Vancouver, BC, Donovan, who is a student at the University of Saskatchewan studying Archaeology, and their youngest Julia, who attends Watson School. In her spare time, Ferne enjoys spending time with family, writing, designing board and card games, helping family with websites and offering tech support, and adding fun items to her etsy store (Nerfblat Bits).
