Saskatchewan’s 100,000 lakes and rivers provide a perfect backdrop for you fishing and hunting trips. There are 68 different species of fish which inhabit our lakes, rivers and streams some of which are Northern Pike, Walleye, Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, and Yellow Perch. Numerous game birds such as Geese, Hungarian Partridge, Ruffed Grouse and Ducks inhabit Saskatchewan’s prairies. Saskatchewan is also a major flyway for migratory birds. If birds are not your aim then turn your eye to the White-tailed Deer, Mule Deer, Moose, and Black Bears.
This area is internationally recognized by hunters for its 100,000′s of waterfowl, friendly people, and open space. Also, Wadena is only 20 minutes from Fishing Lake which boasts Leslie Beach Regional Park. When fishing at Fishing Lake you’re most apt to catch Jack (Northern Pike) and Pickerel. The Wadena Area is an amazing place for game birds. During peak migratory seasons the skies are literally black with birds.
This area is also known for the rare Quill Lake Goose ,which is a cross between Snow & Canada Geese. This goose is sought after by hunters for its unique characteristics.
