Schools

Wadena has excellent educational facilities – a Pre Kindergarten to Grade 6 Elementary School and a Grade 7 to 12 Composite School.  Both are modern, upgraded facilities.  Students are bussed to Wadena from an area extending north of Hendon (over 10 km), south to Elfros (30 km), east to Margo (40 km), and from the west by a total of 7 buses.

Student populations over the last 10 years had declined from 250 to 180 and now are relatively stable at 212 students in the elementary school.  The high school has seen a decline from 215 to 180 and now a rise to 190.   Both school’s student populations depend on the Fishing Lake First Nations as 1/3 of the elementary school population and ¼ of the high school population are drawn from there.
