Closure of Aquatic Centre for 2020 Season

The Town of Wadena officially announces that our pool will not open for the 2020 season. The decision was made due to the likelihood that the province will not allow public pools to operate this summer, or significantly delay the opening of public pools due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision provides certainty to maintenance staff and allows seasonal staff an opportunity to seek other employment. The overall operating deficit of the pool will be reduced from approximately $60,000 to $15,000, saving the Town roughly $45,000 which can be put toward replacing the aging pool liner.

We know residents will miss not having a pool to attend this summer, but it is our hope that the summer of 2021 will be back to normal pool operations for our residents and visitors to enjoy.
